I recently learned some tips on how to clean my new Mannington Wood floors. I used to use special wood floor cleaner that I bought at Home Depot. While it made my new Mannington Wood Floors loook shiny it also made them kind of greasy and slippery. So I bought one of those steam cleaner mops.

I did not get the expensive one that you see on television I think that one is called the Shark. I bought a geberic one from a local hardware store and it works great for the $35 I had to spend for it. Let me tell you that my new Mannington Wood Floors have never looked so shiny and clean until after I used this steam mop. I highly recommend this method of cleaning. You save money by not having to buy cleaners anymore. The steam kills germs without harsh chemicals and it is all natural. So If you like to keep your Mannington wood floors looking great then try out a steam mop!

You can save a lot of money when upgrading your house if you choose to install unfinished wood flooring. Most wood flooring come pre finished with chemicals that protect it and make it look shiny. When you buy unfinished wood flooring you will have to sand it and poly it yourself after you are done installing it. There are advantages and disadvantages to this type of flooring. If you would like to learn exactly what they are then continue reading below.

The disadvantages of unfinished wood flooring can be kind of a pain but not too bad. It is more work after you actually get your floor put down because you now have to sand it and paint it with finish which is a whole job in itself. You may have to refinish the floor every five to ten years as well. The finish can take a few days to dry properly and has a strong smell. These are pretty much the only disadvantages to unfinished wood flooring.

There are many advantages and I believe that they outweigh the bad points by a lot. The first and most important is the price. Most unfinished wood flooring is less than half the price of pre finished floors. This can save you a ton of cash especially if you are doing a big area or entire house. Also if your flor does get scratched you can sand it down and refinish it again taking out the scratch completely. This is not possible with pre finished floors so if you scratch those you better invest in a nice throw rug because that scratch is never coming out.

You may want to look into lumber liquidators for the best price. They usually have unfinished wood flooring at an extremely low price. You will be surprised at how much you can actually save.

Prefinished wood flooring has been around for more than ten years now and they are some great floors to buy and install in your home or business. Prefinished floors come already finished with the chemicals that make them shine and protect them from scratches and make them very durable. They also have a very long warranty anywhere from twenty to fifty years so it will most likely be the last floor you will have to install in your home.

There are many companies that make prefinished wood flooring in the market today. Some popular brands are Bella and Mannington. You can buy these floors online or get them at local retailers. If you have a lumber liquidators nearby then you really need to go there first because you can find some great deals on clearance at the local store.

Prefinished wood flooring is pretty easy to install if you are the least bit handy around the house and know how to use tools. You will need a floor gun to install these types of floors. You can buy one or just rent one from the local home depot for around sixty dollars per day. You will also need some sort of saw. I prefer to use a miter saw because this is a very easy saw to use and is perfect for this application. You should be able to install around 500 square feet per day once you get going and you can save yourself a pretty penny because most contractors charge anywhere from $2-$5 per square foot for installation.

So if you need a new floor for your dream home or new business or are just remodeling then you should definitely be looking into prefinished wood flooring.

If you would like to get a little adventurous with your flooring options then maybe you would like to install floating hardwood floors. These floors are put down on top of a sub floor just by gluing the planks together on top of it. There are no nails holding the floor down. Hence the tern floating hardwood floors.

These kind of floors are good because they can look a little bit better than a floor that has been nailed to the sub floor. They are also different so that is always kind of cool. If you need some installation instructions I have them below.

To install floating hardwood floors make sure you have the proper tools. You will need a pry bar, spacers, glue, a tapping block, a hammer, chalk, measuring tape, glue and a saw.

The planks must be set up perfectly on top of the sub floor. You also must make sure there is no debris on the sub floor before you begin installing your floating hardwood floors. You must make sure that all the pieces fit together very tightly against each other and on top of the sub floor. Use a decent amount of glue on the edges and seems of the floor to hold it together. If any excess glue pushed up through the seams wipe it off with a sponge.

Most floating hardwood floors come pre finished. So after you finish laying down the floor you will need to sand it down and then apply the finish with a paintbrush. Let it dry for a minimum of 48 hours before you walk on the surface. Then all thats left to do is to enjoy your new floating hardwood floors.
